Young Old Foresters – Destination Support Heroes

Foresters sharing their experiences and giving advice to our 6th form pupils

They say go straight to the horse’s mouth and in this year where university open days have been curtailed by the pandemic, our 6th form pupils have been faced with applying to universities that in many cases, they had not been able to visit. Whilst most establishments have put on remote and virtual events, they haven’t been quite the same as being able to get a feel for not just the university, but the locality too.

So, when it came to supporting the pupils in making a decision about their final choices, our Head of 6th Form, Ms Spencer Ellis, came to the rescue. The horse’s mouth, in this case was the brilliant group of Young Old Foresters that she gathered together and over the course of eight evenings, and covering no less than fourteen universities, our pupils got a chance to ask all the questions that they hadn’t been able to ask, get top tips, and hear what it has been like to actually study at the universities that they are interested in.

“The event was excellent and filled us in where universities failed to.”

Yasmin, Year 13

“So many of us have been trying to decide between two universities – this really helped us make a final decision.”

Joe, Year 13
