Sunrisers Selection Success

This week we are celebrating Year 9, Amuruthaa’s selection to the Sunrisers Regional Cricket Academy.

Trials took place before Christmas and each player had to be assessed twice. Further trials took place in early April.

Over 100 women were nominated by their counties to trial but only 14 women got selected. A fantastic achievement Amu!

Sunrisers Cricket is one of eight regional hubs competing in the new Women’s Elite Domestic Structure, which covers the region of the three first-class cricketing counties of Middlesex, Essex and Northamptonshire; Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), and the national counties of Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire.

The Sunrisers structure delivers a performance programme at Academy and Emerging Player level, aimed at developing the breadth of talent across the region.

The Sunrisers Senior team compete in the ECB Women’s Elite Domestic Competition and are a team featuring the best players from across the region and country.

I was just honoured to be called up to trial amongst such a talented group of players. This allows me to hopefully compete in franchise cricket like The Hundred Ball T20 Cricket Tournament, and to maybe one day be a professional cricketer.
