In Memoriam: Glynis Jenkinson, Esteemed Governor and Much Loved Member of the Forest Community
Glynis Jenkinson
Glynis Jenkinson, who has sadly died, was a stalwart of Forest’s Governing Council and one of its longest serving governors.
Glynis enjoyed a hugely successful career as an actress spanning over 40 years. Her talents graced blockbuster franchises such as Harry Potter and The Bourne Films. On television, she appeared in a host of beloved series including Holby City, The Bill, Casualty, Heartbeat, Doctors and Law & Order. Her distinctive, warm, and authoritative voice brought life to countless advertising campaigns, documentaries and radio dramas.
Glynis’s relationship with Forest started many years ago as mother to two boys educated at the School, subsequently taking on the role as the first female President of the FSPA. This was followed by becoming one of the first peripatetic speech and language teachers to offer private LAMDA and Trinity examination coaching at Forest.
Glynis continued to contribute to the School in so many ways, but it is as a committed and diligent Governor that she will be remembered. It was these qualities, together with her personal warmth and empathy, which made her such an excellent safeguarding governor, a role she held for many years. She brought the same qualities to the Education Committee on which she also served for eight years until her retirement from Council in 2023.
David Wilson, Chair of Governors said “ Glynis was a faithful friend to Forest and a wise and empathetic governor, never afraid to speak her mind. This is such sad news for all who knew her and our thoughts and prayers are with Glynis’s husband, family and friends as they come to terms with the loss of such a brave and caring woman”.
Glynis will be greatly missed by those she worked alongside and those she taught.
