A Night to Remember: Handel’s Messiah

Forest School’s choral community delivered an unforgettable evening of music on Saturday, 8th March, as they took to the stage at Sinfonia Smith Square to perform Handel’s Messiah.

Under the expert direction of James Clements, the Forest School Choirs – including the Prep School Choir, Senior School Chapel Choir, and the Choral Society – joined forces with the acclaimed ensemble Spiritato. The performance featured an exceptional lineup of soloists: Emma Walshe (soprano), Elisabeth Paul (alto), Tom Kelly (tenor), and James Geidt (bass). Their captivating vocals, combined with the choir’s harmonies, filled the historic venue with a truly moving rendition of Handel’s masterpiece.

A standout moment of the evening was the breathtaking countertenor solo by Thomas in Year 11, whose remarkable performance captivated the audience.

Reflecting on the night, James Clements, Senior Deputy Head (Prep) at Forest, shared his thoughts on the performance: “This was a truly special evening that showcased the extraordinary dedication and talent within our choral community. From our youngest singers in the Prep Choir to the seasoned voices of the Choral Society, everyone contributed to a performance filled with passion, precision and musical brilliance. It was a privilege to stand before such an inspiring group of musicians.”

The concert concluded with a powerful and resounding rendition of the final ‘Amen,’ a moment that resonated deeply with all those in attendance. The overwhelming support from parents, carers, staff, and the wider school community helped make this a truly memorable occasion.
