Positive Planet Bronze Accreditation Awarded for Sustainability Efforts
Forest School has proudly received the Positive Planet Bronze accreditation, a significant recognition of its efforts in sustainability and carbon reduction. This accolade highlights the School’s dedication to creating a more sustainable future for its community and the planet.
To achieve the Bronze certification under the Sustainable Organisation Accreditation Programme, Forest School met comprehensive standards, including:
- Measuring full Scope 1, full Scope 2, and full upstream Scope 3 emissions.
- Developing a comprehensive Carbon Reduction Plan.
- Committing to a 5% reduction in annual emissions.
- Demonstrating a commitment to improving data quality each year.
In addition to this achievement, Forest is already progressing towards Silver Accreditation by:
- Committing to achieve Net Zero, in line with guidance from relevant authorities.
- Preparing to launch a Supply Chain Engagement Programme this year.
- Actively engaging with stakeholders, including parents and pupils, to foster collaboration on sustainability efforts.
Recent activities include:
- Replacing more fluorescent lighting with LEDs/sensors in the dining hall, resulting in a 75% reduction in energy usage.
- Building an array of planters to create a green screen, improving air quality and increasing biodiversity.
