Record GCSE Results for Forest Pupils
Our Year 11 pupils and their families have a huge amount to celebrate on 2024 GCSE results day as they receive the best results in the School’s history. The outstanding results follow last week’s record-breaking A-level results and once again highlight the School’s clear academic strength.
The GCSE headlines are:
- A large cohort of 165 Forest pupils were awarded 1,486 grades in total, the most common grade achieved by Foresters was the top Grade 9 (A**).
- 30% of all grades awarded were Grade 9 (A**).
- 58% of all grades were awarded the top Grade 9 or 8 (equivalent to an A**/A*). This represents 853 individual Grade 9s and 8s out of 1,486 grades awarded in total.
- 78% of all grades were at Grade 9-7 (Grade A**/A*/A). This surpassed our own ambitious target and is expected to place us amongst the highest-performing schools at GCSE in the country.
- 7 pupils achieved straight Grade 9s (A**) – this is an outstanding achievement.
In addition, all Forest pupils pursue the academically demanding Higher Project Qualification, which sees pupils undertake an independent research project or the production of a researched artefact. 72% of HPQs were awarded A*-A.
Today’s record-breaking GCSE results follow last week’s outstanding A-level outcomes, which were also the best in the School’s history and saw 57% of the cohort secure the highest A-level grades of A* and A. Our outgoing Class of 2024 leave Forest for a huge and diverse array of courses at excellent institutions and high-prestige apprenticeships.
Forest’s Warden, Marcus Cliff Hodges, said: “Today’s outstanding GCSE results are testament to the hard work, enthusiasm, and tenacity of this very talented group of Foresters. The pupils deserve the highest praise for their achievements, and we are delighted for them, their supportive parents, and their dedicated teachers.
“Our Year 11 pupils have not only flourished academically but been fully engaged across all areas of Forest life, embracing the outstanding all-round education offered by Forest. This is a cohort of pupils which will continue to grow and develop as a result of all those extensive opportunities they enjoy inside and outside the classroom at Forest. We now look forward to them continuing to thrive in the Sixth Form – key formative years for them, during which time we will continue to offer them very close support and guidance.”
