Prince on Tour
A double page spread in the Sunday Times this week heralds Old Forester Paapa Essiedu taking the acclaimed Royal Shakespeare Company’s high-energy production of ‘Hamlet’ on tour around the country this spring, arriving just down the road from Forest at the Hackney Empire in March.
At Stratford in 2016 Paapa received rave reviews for his fresh portrayal of the Prince and has been much in demand ever since. On screen you may have spotted him recently in the film ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ or caught him in the BBC’s ‘The Miniaturist’. He is currently in Channel 4’s ‘Kiri’ as a father under suspicion of murdering his child. He told the Sunday Times he is thrilled that ‘Hamlet’ will be reaching a wider audience and that the nationwide tour gives him the opportunity to perform the role close to where he was brought up in Walthamstow.
