Olympic swimmer Kate Haywood visits Forest

Former Olympic swimmer Kate Haywood visit Forest School on Tuesday 16 May.

The elite swimmer, who has represented Great Britain at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games, spent the day talking to and running sessions with pupils from across the Prep and Senior schools.

Starting the day, Kate gave an assembly to year seven and eight pupils where she discussed what motivated her career and why it’s important to keep fit.

Following this, the swimmer gave out prizes at the swimming gala where pupils from year three and four were competing. Speaking about the visit, Forest’s Head of Girls’ Games, Miss Charlotte Barras said: ‘It was great to have Kate with us and to witness the fantastic talent at our swimming gala. The pupils were very motivated to have an Olympic swimming watching them.’

During the visit, Kate also spent time with the kickboxing club and speaking to pupils from the Elite Player Programme.

‘The visit was a huge success, Kate was very generous with her time and gave a very inspirational talk about resilience and coming back from an injury,’ Miss Barras added.

‘We look forward to welcoming Kate back to Forest in the future.’
