Know Your Impact!

The Warden joined the world-renowned Professor of Education, John Hattie, at a recent conference to discuss what factors contribute the most to pupils’ learning and the importance of pupils being able to articulate what they are learning, how they are learning, and where they are going next on their learning journey.

Creating an even stronger teaching and learning culture at Forest is at the centre of the new strategic plan and, bold as ever, Forest is the first independent school to use the Visible Learning programme, firmly based on John Hattie’s meta-research which identifies the things that are proven to have the highest impact in any classroom.

In the course of next year, we want to see pupils talking openly and confidently about their learning, using the same learning ‘toolkit’ in every lesson to make good progress. The best schools understand exactly how all children learn and develop pedagogical practices that are shared across all subjects. We are on an exciting journey!
