Engineering the Future

It’s been a fantastic week for our young engineers here at Forest.

Year 12 pupil Jude has been made an Arkwright Scholar, the brilliant culmination of a process that started back in February.

‘An Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is the most esteemed scholarship of its type in the UK, designed to inspire students to pursue their dreams and change the world as a future leader in engineering.’ Arkwright.org.uk

The Scholarships are awarded to 16 year old students through a rigorous selection process, supporting them through their A levels. Every Scholarship is sponsored by a commercial company, trade association, university, professional institution, armed service, government organisation, worshipful company,  charitable trust or personal donor. This means that support is offered in various different ways, for example, valuable hands-on work experience, support for curriculum projects and a personal mentor who can help with aspects of studies and career planning.

If this wasn’t enough from our young engineers, Young Old Forester Halimah Ershad has just won the Engineering & Manufacturing Apprenticeship Award 2021 at this year’s BAME Apprenticeship Awards. Halimah was one of the very first young people to join The Dyson Institute, graduating this year. She has chosen to stay on with Dyson and will hopefully be heading out to work in Singapore in the new year.

We’re sure that we will be seeing more from these two brilliant young people in the future!
