Commitment to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

For some 190 students, Wednesday the 8th of November saw the culmination of many months hard work and commitment to their Duke of Edinburgh’s award.

Forest’s annual celebration evening saw nearly 100 students receive their awards as part of a presentation ceremony where we take the time to acknowledge, recognise and champion the efforts of all those involved with the Duke of Edinburgh’s award but in particular the students who have completed theirs. The Bronze recipients were presented awards by the Warden whilst the Deputy Warden presented certificates and badges to the Silver recipients in the Deaton theatre. A hearty congratulations was conveyed to the students by parents and teachers alike with the amazing 230 completions in the past year demonstrating to all that the selflessness, consideration and strength of character are at the heart of all Foresters. A particular mention should go to the 38 Gold completions, twice as many as have ever previously been recorded in one year at Forest. Those recipients will have the pleasure of receiving their awards in the presence of the Royal Family at one of the Royal Palaces in the near future. None of the above would be possible without the Forest parents, staff, teachers and of course students. Congratulations to one and all!
