Forest School Students Celebrate Best Ever A-Level Results

Forest School is thrilled to announce that the A Level results for Summer 2024 are the best in the School’s history.

The exceptional accomplishments of Forest’s large Year 13 cohort, made up of 135 students, highlight the school’s rapidly increasing academic success in recent years. These record-breaking results are a clear indicator of the school’s growing momentum in academic excellence.

On the strength of these outstanding results across a broad range of subjects Forest students will be going onto some of the country’s most prestigious universities, conservatoires and degree apprenticeships.

A Level Headlines:

Collectively Forest students were awarded 400+ A-Level grades in total.

  • 57% of all grades were awarded A-A*.
  • 82% of all grades were A-B*.
  • The most common grade was an ‘A’ grade.
  • 21% of all grades awarded were A*.
  • The average Forester achieved the equivalent of AAB at A-level (134 UCAS Tariff Points).
  • 9 Foresters achieved A*A*A* or better, the highest outcome possible.
  • 55 Foresters achieved the equivalent of AAA or better.

Thanks to their impressive results, the majority of Forest students have secured their preferred university placements in a wide range of subjects.

Forest’s Warden, Marcus Cliff Hodges, said: “We are incredibly proud of our Year 13 students for achieving the best A Level results in Forest School’s history. Their hard work, dedication, and resilience have truly paid off, and these record-breaking results are a testament to their exceptional talent and the extensive opportunities Forest offers young people to develop and grow. Of course, none of this would happen without the unwavering support of our dedicated staff.

“The diversity of achievement across a broad range of subjects further highlights the well-rounded education we provide at Forest, which not only focuses on academic excellence but explicitly focusses on the all-round personal development of our pupils. This is a momentous achievement for our school community, and we are excited about the bright futures that lie ahead for our students.”

One of the distinctive features of a Forest education is that all students sit an additional Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) as part of their core A-level curriculum. The EPQ is an academically rigorous and independently researched project which constitutes some of the best preparation for undergraduate study a Sixth Former can undertake.

The Russell Group of elite universities, for example, describes the EPQ as a ‘valued qualification’ and ‘one which requires evidence of planning, preparation and independent learning’, whilst the University of Cambridge ‘welcome the EPQ and encourage applicants to take one.’

Nearly 75% of Foresters achieved an A* or an A in the Extended Project Qualification.

When the EPQ is included:

  • 26% of grades are at A*
  • 59% of grades are at A*-A
  • 83% of grades are at A*-B
