Parenting expert Sue Atkins speaks at Forest

Forest’s annual ‘Settling into secondary school’ evening took place on Monday 27 February.

As part of the School’s regular events for local parents, one of the country’s foremost parenting experts, Sue Atkins, spoke to parents about the challenging transition that children may face as they move from primary or preparatory school to secondary school.

During the evening, Sue discussed how parents can support their children with the big change and she spoke of the new experiences they will face as they move to a new school.

Sue is a broadcaster, speaker, author of the Amazon best-selling books Parenting Made Easy – How to Raise Happy Children and Raising Happy Children for Dummies, and is one of the country’s most well-known parenting experts. She is also a former Deputy Head teacher and a classroom teacher for 22 years.

Following Sue’s talk, a panel of Forest pupils from Year Seven, Year Eight and Year Nine took questions from parents. The pupils answered questions from the audience on their own experiences of moving to Forest and how they have coped with the change.
