Lion King cast member Craig Thomas visits Forest for a masterclass with pupils

Craig, who is part of the show’s ensemble and currently an understudy for the role of Simba, visited Forest spending an afternoon with Year 7 and 8 pupils interested in pursuing a career in the world of theatre.

Before the Q&A session, the actor performed two hits from the show including the famous Circle of Life.

During the session, the pupils asked Craig what is was like being an actor in the West End, how he dealt with rejections and the rigorous rehearsal schedules.

He responded by explaining “everyone in the West End has had rejections, you have to have a thick skin and pick yourself up” and “you get into a routine with the rehearsals”.

Following the questions, pupils took part in a practical workshop with Craig, learning some of the songs from the show and the choreography used in the production.

Forest music teacher, Mr Griffiths said: “It was great to welcome Craig to Forest. The pupils really engaged in the Q&A and learned lots about what it takes to be a stage performer.”
