Apprentice star Adam Corbally visits Forest
In a week in which the presenter of the US version of the show was elected President, Forest hosted one of the stars of the UK’s Apprentice, Adam Corbally.
Adam was voted the favourite ever candidate on the business reality show by Radio Times readers in 2013, defeating fellow contestants such as Tom Pellereau and Katie Hopkins. During his talk, Adam spoke to pupils about his journey to where he is now.
Forest’s Diploma Coordinator, Mr Tom Burnside said: “Adam’s incredibly honest and high-tempo presentation was by turns humbling, poignant and hilarious. Having left school- and indeed his home- at the age of 16 with no qualifications, Adam faced a series of huge challenges, trying his hand at over 20 different jobs from the ages of 16-19. However, he quickly realised that he wanted to work for himself.
“Venturing down to his local market, he saw that there was a gap in the market for a greengrocer. By the next week he was trading fruit and veg, eventually turning a market stall into a successful wholesale business, before branching out into different areas of business.”
Full of insight and inspiring advice for our Sixth Formers, Adam shared his personal mantra- “it’s not what you do, but how you do it”- as well as valuable life and career guidance. His personal story of repeated failure overcome through perseverance and tenacity resonated with the audience, who asked a series of brilliant questions in a Q & A session. “His charisma and infectious personality made it one of the most enjoyable lectures yet,” Mr Burnside added.
“It was the best talk so far, very engaging. I enjoyed it very much and hope to see him back at Forest in future,” Sixth Former Pablo Nicholls said.
