Forest Hosts First Early Years Conference On Teaching And Learning

On Thursday 3rd May Forest School hosted a conference for Early Years and KS1 teachers focusing on the development of literacy in children and understanding how children build and develop their learning skills.

In addition, the challenges facing children in our modern world and creative ways of capturing young children’s interest in imagination and literacy were also explored.  There were three expert speakers including Sue Palmer literacy specialist, writer and childhood campaigner, Shelley Birkett-Eyles an expert in the area of movement and how it contributes to children’s learning and development, and Ben Hasan who talked about how story telling  creates meaningful learning experiences.

The feedback from attendees from a range of local maintained and independent infant and junior schools was extremely positive – “All of the speakers were passionate about their subject. “The content was thought provoking and has given me a wealth of information to take back to school”.
