Welcome to the Development Office

We provide a range of services for the benefit of Old Foresters, parents, staff and pupils.

  • We organise Old Forester events and respond to all alumni enquiries.
  • We raise funds for new resources and initiatives at Forest by working with the Warden, Governors and staff and by approaching parents, Old Foresters, charitable organisations and businesses.
  • We maintain the Forest School Archive, making it an accessible resource for teaching as well as a memory bank for past pupils. We respond to research enquiries from the wider community and Old Foresters.
  • We run the Forest Network and encourage Old Foresters and parents to offer careers support to Forest pupils and young Old Foresters.

Our aim is to help all those with an interest in Forest to reconnect with the School and to enjoy the many social, sporting and cultural opportunities on offer. Do call or email us. We can be contacted throughout the year.

The Development Programme

In recent years the School has spectacularly developed its facilities to extend teaching and learning opportunities across the site. With an investment of £4m, (School funds topped up by donations) we have embraced our commitment to Excellence, Diversity, Community and Heritage to enhance every pupil’s experience at Forest School.

Investing in Facilities

  • The Martin Centre for Innovation was made possible by Old Forester, Anthony V Martin (Johnians 1948-1957). The building reflects in its architecture the School of 1834 and the School of today and is a strong statement of the School’s forward-looking dedication to excellence in education.
  • The creation of a larger, state-of-the-art Science Department supports the quality and ambition of Science teaching at Forest now and for many years to come. We continue to welcome sponsors of Periodic Table elements in support of scientific projects.
  • The construction of the Astroturf Pitch on The Park has extended our ability to provide the all-round education on which we have always prided ourselves.
  • The General Fund embraces items and projects for which funding is sought so that we can bring forward their delivery to pupils.

Investing in Individuals

The School, supported by donations, invest in means tested bursaries for pupils whose parents could not otherwise send them to Forest and plans to establish an endowment to fund bursaries into the future. The Bursary Fund is vital in sustaining the diversity and opportunity so important to the School’s identity and values.

We very much hope that you will consider making a contribution to the Bursary Fund or to the General Fund. If you have already made a donation, we are most grateful – and hope you will consider supporting us again. If you have not yet done so, we invite you most warmly to join our cause.

Thank you for supporting Forest School.
