First choice destination: Degree level apprenticeship at Ernst & Young
What was the thought process that led you to choose a degree level apprenticeship?
I enjoyed Computer Science GCSE and the Next Steps days started my thought process of looking into pursing it at degree level. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to do in-person work experience pre-COVID at Synechron which was when I first started to think about an apprenticeship as a really good way to learn whilst I study. Later, I worked on a cyber security project for Clifford Chance as well as data analytics and data science virtual placements at KPMG and PwC.
Where else did you apply?
I have offers from Leeds, Kings, Queen Mary’s and Royal Holloway and an unconditional offer from Gloucestershire University which has a good reputation for Computer Sciences. In addition, I have another degree level apprenticeship offer from The Bank of England and I am waiting to hear back from JP Morgan having got through to the last round.
What are your plans for the future?
I am guaranteed a job at EY at the end of my training and study period and I plan to continue to play Netball for one of the big London Clubs.
