Prep School girls visit Olympic Park for IWD 2017

Girls from Forest’s Prep School visited the Olympic Park on Wednesday 8 March to mark International Women’s Day.

To celebrate the day, 30 girls visited the famous park starting the morning with an inspirational introduction from Olympic athletes including gold medal winning hockey player Nicola White, bronze medal winner Goldie Sayers and Paralympic double gold medal winning archer Danielle Brown.

Following the welcome talks, the Forest girls then took part in wheelchair basketball, fencing, tennis, golf, sitting volleyball, ktroo (Google it) and boccia.

Head of Prep School Sport, Mr Tom Arnold, said: ‘The variety of activities was amazing and all the girls enjoyed trying out new sports’

‘The morning was topped off by Isabelle, Y4, being selected to have a short personal athlete mentoring session. Henni Zuel is recently retired golfer who now works for Sky Sports Golf as a pundit. Isabelle was introduced to Henni and the two spent 10 minutes chatting about her sport.

After lunch there was still time for the girls to get their t-shirts autographed by the athletes.

Mr Arnold added: ‘It was a truly inspiring morning for the girls and I hope they all appreciate how fortunate they are to live so close to such an inspirational venue.’

The visit coincided with Forest staff and pupils marking International Women’s Day with a new video.
