IEA Economics Sixth Form Conference

Forest School, in partnership with the Institute of Economic Affairs, hosted the Economics Sixth Form Conference on Wednesday 8 March.

Forest Economists were joined by students from London Academy of Excellence, Beal Academy and Forest Academy to engage with the experts on a variety of topical areas.

Dr Steve Davies discussed with students the options the country faces with respect to exiting the EU and securing future trade deals, while the day’s second speaker Neil Record educated students on the complex workings of the UK’s financial system.

The afternoon saw social health insurance systems debated with Dr Kristian Niemietz and students considered solutions to the critical funding problems faced by the NHS.

Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive and the Economics Department hopes to host a similar event next year.
