Boys and Girls House Music

Last week saw one of the highlights of the Forest School calendar with the Boys and Girls House Music competitions which were held in the Sports Hall in front of an audience of hundreds of captivated onlookers.

The format of the two House competitions is slightly different with the girls’ houses performing Ensembles and Unison pieces along with individual soloists, whilst the boys’ houses is a battle of the bands split between the seniors and the juniors, but also with solo performances.

The standard on both finals nights was incredibly high with a wide range of pieces chosen and arranged by the pupils themselves.  The winning junior band in the Boys’ House Music final was Miller’s House with Dude (Looks Like a Lady) by Aerosmith arranged by Finlay Mclachan, the winning soloist was Lucas Boardman of Guy’s House with Bring Him Home from Les Miserables (voice) and the senior school band competition was won by Guy’s House with What You Know by Two Door Cinema Club and arranged by Lucas Boardman and Louis Burnay.

Despite the fact that Guy’s House won in two categories, Poole’s showed great consistency in every section and, in a nail-biting finish, came through to take the overall Boys House Music title on the night.
