Mack & Mabel

Thursday 23 and Friday 24 February – Deaton Theatre – 7.00pm

Mack & Mabel is a saga of the silent film era when “Movies Were Movies”, this is the story of legendary director Mack Sennett and his greatest star, Mabel Normand. It is told in flashback by Mack himself as the narrator, a broken man, made obsolete by talkies, bankrupted and forced to sell his studio, he reminisces about the past, recalling his triumphs and his turbulent love affair with Mabel whom he had discovered and made a star.

He loves her, but cannot tell her, sending her into the arms of a rival.  Nominated for 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, 1975 and the Evening Standard’s Drama Award for Best Musical this is “A musical in the old and true tradition,” according to the New York Times.

Starring Harry Solomons as Mack, Emily Lawrence as Mabel and Gwen Jones as Lottie, join us in the Deaton Theatre for a fun-filled evening of popcorn, Keystone Kops, tap-dancing and song!
