YOFs’ News – A bit of acting magic!
Forgive the news heading – this week we’d like to say how proud we are of not one but two Young Old Foresters who are forging ahead in their careers.
At Forest we stand by our mantra of ‘explore as many things and take as many opportunities as you can, and find what you love’. This often encourages our pupils to follow this through – establishing themselves after they leave us in careers doing exactly that – what they love.
It has been fantastic to see Corey Mylchreest (Copeland’s 2016) take on his first leading role as King George in Bridgerton spin-off, Queen Charlotte. We’re not surprised – Corey was House Drama Captain during his time at Forest, and regularly showcased his talent in productions including Zigger Zagger (with fellow OF and actor, Ella Purnell), and Nicholas Nickleby. We can’t wait to see what he does next!
Now to the magic. There must be something about the cohort of 2016. Fellow House Drama Captain, John Duffett (Doctor’s 2016) took a slightly different route and followed his love of magic. A member of the prestigious Magic Circle for just 18 months, John has just won the Society’s Close Up Magician of the Year competition. John beat off five other contenders for the title with his performance of card magic, making cards disappear and appear in impossible locations.
Outstanding!
