Music

From Chapel Choirs to Guitar Ensemble, Forest Preparatory School accommodates and encourages a wide range of musical interests and talents

Music in the curriculum covers a diverse range of topics from African Drumming to renaissance music, Blues and Jazz. Prep music is taught in our sound-proofed Music classroom which is equipped with keyboards, electric drums, xylophones, recorders, djembes, tuned and un-tuned percussion.

We have a specialist Music Teacher for the subject of Music in the Prep School in addition to specialist instrumental staff who lead ensembles. Their expertise and energy is reflected in the record numbers we currently have in our Choirs, Orchestra, Brass and Guitar Ensembles.

In Year 4, pupils are given the opportunity to learn an orchestral instrument (trumpet, trombone, French horn, flute, clarinet, cello, violin, double bass) for an entire academic year. This provides a meaningful and important learning experience for our pupils and can often result in the discovery of some talented musicians along the way.
