On Friday 29th June, we were delighted to host the Annual Review of our Place2Be Counselling Provision.

The Warden and Jeff Kayne, Deputy Head Pastoral met with the Place2Be President, Dame Benita Refson DBE, Dr Stephen Adams-Langley, the Senior Clinical Consultant and our Project Manager, Ms Lisa-Marie Serindag to celebrate the huge successes of our partnership. We discussed the vital importance of delivering pro-active pastoral care, keeping pupil wellbeing at the very top of our agenda, earliest intervention and high-quality home/school communication. It was also an opportunity to reflect on the very many positive outcomes that have and continue to emerge from the strands of our full-time, 5-day per week Place2Be provision, i.e. 1:1 Counselling, Place2Be (pupil self-referral), Place2Think (training for teachings staff) and parent partnership.

Ms Serindag and Dr Adams-Langley are very well-known to us and we are extremely grateful for the work that they do. We were delighted to welcome Dame Refson to Forest School for the first time. She is a founding Trustee of Place2Be and a qualified counsellor. After 19 years, Dame Refson stepped down as CEO of Place2Be in 2014 but continues to support the organisation enthusiastically through her role as President. She was awarded Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the Birthday 2016 Honours List in recognition of services to education. After our meeting, Dame Refson tweeted that she was ‘impressed by the all-round level of commitment to student and family wellbeing at Forest’.
