Inaugural Skills Festival

The Preparatory School hosted the inaugural Skills Festival on Friday 5 February, having been awarded Junior Hub School Status by ISFA.

The Junior Hub School programme is a partnership between The Football Association and 10 to 15 junior schools and aims to enhance football provision available to boys and girls under the age of 11. The partnership also aims to promote small-sided games.

Four-a-side matches result in 500% more goals scored compared to five-a-side, they result in double the number of passes attempted and games are likely to have more one-on-one encounters.

During the Skills Festival, boys from Woodford Green Preparatory School, Chigwell School and Forest played four-a-side matches against each other and their own classmates.

Forest P.E teacher Mr Arnold said: “I was most impressed with the hard-working attitude of the boys and I’m sure they could have continued playing for many more hours after we had finished.”

“At the end of the Festival, it was clear to see the boys loved their afternoon, meeting and playing with new friends.”
