Old Foresters visit St James’s Palace

Five Old Foresters visited St James’s Palace to receive their Duke of Edinburgh gold awards on Monday 21 November.

Benjamin Qureshi, Radhika Bassi, Tanya Kundu, Jack Collier and Robin Wallich all received their awards in the presence of HRH Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex.

Speaking about the visit, Forest’s Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator Mr Jacques Moore-Hurley said: “The Earl was greatly interested in the exploits of the students paying particular attention to the bee-keeping of Benjamin and the tenacity Radhika spoke of on her expedition.”

During the visit, the former pupils were lucky enough to be presented their certificates in the throne room of the palace by Tom Aikens, celebrated chef of his own chain Tom’s Kitchen and the youngest British chef ever to win Michelin stars.

Mr Moore-Hurley added: “Many Congratulations to the participants who have taken time out from university studies to receive their awards. The culmination of many years of hard work, determination and drive.”
