London Community Gospel Choir visits Forest

Forest welcomed four members of the London Community Gospel Choir to the School on Monday 3 October.

The three singers and pianist gave a number of vocal workshops and performances throughout the day. This included a session with the whole of Year 7 that ended with the pupils singing in three-part harmony, sessions with the Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, and a workshop open to senior pupils and staff that included the Senior Chapel Choir.

Pupils were also treated to a Q&A session with the singers where they gave some insight into working in the music industry and touring.

The LCGC singers also gave a short concert in the School’s chapel, featuring beautiful renditions of their arrangements of Bridge over troubled water and Amazing Grace.

Forest’s Director of Music, Mr Iain McGregor said: “Gospel is about encouragement and positivity, and it was brilliant to see and hear this shining through in the sessions and see and hear so many Forest pupils having fun singing, many of whom had little previous knowledge of Gospel.”
