Duke of Edinburgh Award celebration evening

Forest’s annual Duke of Edinburgh Award celebration evening took place on November 9.

This year, pupils have completed 171 awards with 100 bronze and 20 silver awards being presented on the night.

Duke of Edinburgh Co-coordinator, Mr Jacques Moore-Hurley said: “The evening celebrated the dedication, commitment and determination of Forest pupils with all of them having given months of their time in the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, learning new skills and most importantly giving their time selflessly to the community.

“One of the most significant parts of the award that attracts users to the scheme is the expedition section. For this aspect participants have to be trained in various outdoor skills including, camp craft, navigation, First aid and emergency procedures in order for them to complete an unaccompanied journey in the countryside or mountains.”
